Comment:
Chalk this one up to the Guilty Pleasures file. Let's face it: Next to the Eagles, 70's/80's Fleetwood Mac epitomized everything that was horrifying about big-bucks corporate rock. But you gotta give Lindsay some credit, not just for being a pretty great guitarist and knowing his way around a killer pop hook, but for being almost subversive. Here you've got a guy coming off the biggest-selling album ever, and what does he do? Creates Tusk, on which his songs sound like an angry cynic pounding out his bitterness in a home studio on a shoestring budget, backed by the biggest classic rock band in the world. Hey, it's almost punk... So here we have Buckingham's Tusk tracks, padded out with the highlights of his other Fleetwood Mac contributions. Nicks and McVie need not apply.
Feedback:
guilty pleasures indeed...now i won't feel so bad about like Lindsay's stuff...
Hey great mix, where are the tunes "Book of Love", "Can't Go Back" and "Tusk 2" from?
Keep up the great mixes!
Keep up the great mixes!
Thanks. "Book of Love" and "Can't Go Back" are both from Mirage, a somewhat mediocre album (albeit better than Tango in the Night); the former is just ok, but "Can't Go Back" is actually a nice little pop nugget. The alternate "Tusk" comes from the box set -- it has more of the marching band and, for some reason, omits 2 of the 3 verses.
Hey, this is a great idea. Sorry I missed it. I may want a copy of it...
