Comment:
"God only lays a Bill Monroe on you once in a lifetime, so pay attention." -Doug Dillard. Bill Monroe, one of the true giants of American music, the Father of Bluegrass, and the only musician I am aware of that single-handedly invented a genre of music. The title of the mix is, of course, one of Bill's songs, but it's also the title of a wonderful recent Monroe biography by Richard D. Smith. I highly recommend it; it's a great story, and Bill is a fascinating guy, whether you're interested in bluegrass music or not. I was just fortunate enough to get it and understand it at that early age, and it still rings true for me. I'd still rather listen to Bill and Charlie Monroe than any current record. That's what America's all about to me." -Bob Dylan.
Feedback:
Fitting tribute to a personal favorite. Great stuff Franklin.
I'd love to hear that
This series is fantastic! Let me know if you'd like to trade again. What a wonderful tribute. And a great photo, too. Nicely done.
Wow.
Hey Steve! This and volume two are simply wonderful. Indescribably essential for anyone interested in the history of American Music. I want these two. Great exhaustive work with the track listings.
I believe Gerry said it..."exhaustive"..! Nice work, as usual, Steve!
