Comment:
As I started making this mix, about four songs into it, I had used all fast-paced, kind of upbeat songs, and I thought... huh, I wonder how long I can keep that going. So I tried to keep the whole album going that way, all very rocking, galloping songs. At first, I had included Arco's "Lullabye" as the last track... kind of a joke, since right after an hour of hyper music, suddenly some guy is whispering "lay down your head, it's time to sleep" over a quiet piano tune. But at the last second, I replaced it with the Lilys song. I also originally had Mull Historical Society's "Instead" open the album, but it just didn't convey the tone of the rest of the album. The Swirlies song I added in at the last minute when Yo La Tengo's "Let's Save Tony Orlando's House" just didn't cut it, and I swapped the original placement of the Minders and Oranger songs, because the lower-grade sound production of the Minders song felt buried between the louder Starlight Mints and New Pornographers songs.Feedback:
I too am a lover of "fast-paced, kind of upbeat songs," so needless to say this looks pretty good. Perhaps I could trade for this one of these days.
I shamefully admit I don't recognize a lot of these bands (I just found AOTM, and believe me, I will be trying to remedy that situation, but quick), but I love a CD that's chock-full of songs that make other drivers scared of me (as I get hyper in my car). Let me know if you'd be interested in a trade...If you don't yet have any OK Go or Maroon 5, you need to!
Ay Yi Yi!!!! SOMEONE ELSE HAS HEARD OF THE STARLIGHT MINTS!!! i can now die a happy girl.
Okay, I guess this is the one I wanted!
Ha ha, yes, I think your first hint was at the bottom of the page.
I've been listening to this mix in my car non-stop over the last few days. Great song after great song. Thanks again, chief.
