this is a mix for my friend jess. i was talking about joy division once, saying that i was going to make a mix of them. she said she hadn't really heard joy division and she wanted a copy. i said i should make you a mix with the better-known stuff (i wasn't going to use anything from "substance"). from there the concept escalated into a "things jess should hear" disc. then i got stuck for a while, but then i finished it just in time for her birthday. (i didn't give her a tracklist, though, to prevent random access.) then her other friends made her a better cd, of course, but that's just the way it goes.
