Comment:
Most of my 'Experiments In Mood' series thus far have been fairly laid back affairs, brief flurries of rhythm between mellow ambiences. Now it's not that there's anything wrong with this (on the contrary, it's a pattern I like and will continue to use) but I felt it was time for something a little more upbeat. As such this has a bit of an identity crisis, I'm not even sure if it fits in the series. But it follows the basic series ethos of creating/enhancing a mood through instrumental passages interspersed with worthy songs.A special mention for the Gong track which is 1978-era Gong; after Daevid Allen's departure and before Pierre Moerlen got his name on the front cover. But this track features the phenomenal guitar of Allan Holdsworth, whose work I only seem to like when he's playing for someone else.[Cover star is Rousseau's "Combat of a Tiger and a Buffalo"]
Feedback:
Inspired Muzag! Love the Can-U.F.O.-Gil Scott-Heron especially..., but it's all a sweet segue. I love your series' "ethos"!
What Valis said. And I'll add a nod for the James Taylor Quartet and Gong picks.
looks damn good, love most of it
great flow! like the inclusion Miles, Amon Tobin, Heron & Green. very nice.
Nice Variety.
Very very nice Muzag.
I guess I might like to hear this sometime. Nice Miles, Khan, Tobin, Sly, Al etc. etc. picks.
looks awesome as usual. We can always depend on you, Gary, to come up with something unusual and interesting. What AOTM is all about! Keep up the good work!
