Comment:

No apologies...I love John Mayer, and you should, too. Don't be fooled by his bubblegum pop singles. He's amazing, especially live, and most of these are live tracks. This version of "Wonderland" starts out with John talking about pouring a bowl of Count Chocula for his sweetie and taking out some of the oat pieces so it will seem more marshmallow-y: "That's how much I love you, girl; I would change the oat to marshmallow ratio for you..."

i agree! johnny is so much better live. i'm thrilled for him BUT i just can't listen to him on the radio. the stripped down version of ybiaw is far superior. you have to listen to him live before you dismiss him as just another pop act! i love to watch him play...all about a guy and his guitar.

No "Lifelines?" That's one of my favorites of his and I've only found it live.

Mayer's hit and miss for me, but when he hits, he hits it out of the park. To this day, my favorite remains a solo acoustic version of "3x5". The backing music in the other versions annoys me. But the solo acoustic - perfect pop song. Put that one of two of my mixes. And by all accounts, I SHOULD hate the bubblegum pop of "Waiting on the World to Change" - but I love it. Yep, Mayer don't get enough credit.
