The Audit: Cast to Ornette Coleman

Artist Song
cast  promised land (all change)
cat power  (i can't get no) satisfaction (the covers record)
chameleons uk  seriocity (strange times)
charlatans uk  you're not very well (some friendly)
charlatans uk  weirdo (between 10th and 11th)
charlatans uk  can't get out of bed (up to our hips)
churchbuilder  castle of blood (patty darling)
ciao bella  sink (s/t)
patsy cline  i fall to pieces (the patsy cline story)
cocteau twins  iceblink luck (heaven or las vegas)
leonard cohen  sisters of mercy (greatest hits)
ornette coleman  free jazz (free jazz)

Comment:

volume 7. the great debate for me here was whether to include coleman's free jazz or not. but there was room on the CD and the CD only had two tracks to rip (free jazz and the first take of the session) and free jazz definitely makes the cut.

Interesting series, Brandt. Since you used that Coleman track, I'll overlook the fact that you only have one Buzzcocks CD ;)

ok..., the smart ass in me says: "go ahead, ask about that Patsy Cline cut..."I Fall to People"? But the nice guy, (who won out here), says: "just shut up about it.")

Hmm. Good idea. This would take me entirely too long to do... and no, I'm not going to jump on what you have and don't have, although I admit the Clash seems essential.

that was one of the purposes of this exercise Rob. the almost violent protest to my owning NO Clash records has shot them to the top of the "must have" list. feel free to point out any other gaping holes in the future...haha.

Okay, then let me suggest that you buy a Gene Clark album as soon as possible. In the meantime, skip London Calling and buy the first album (U.K. edition) instead.

Def Leppard's Comin' Under Fire would just top this off :)

Allen Clapp!?!? '100 % Chance of Rain' is mandatory for anyone with your indiepop tendencies!

I have the Allen Clapp on vinyl...and you're right, it's brilliant.

Really? I have The Orange Peels' "Square," and while I love the music, I really dislike Clapp as a singer and lyricist. Does the vinyl do more justice for him?
