Comment:

Brad Mehldau's restless musical mind is constantly seeking out new routes, and what better way to keep those creative juices flowing than by bouncing your ideas off some of the most uncompromising artists around? He plays a musical game of tag with saxophone star Joshua Redman on a jazz journey through the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," their sax and piano lines darting in and out of each other's path with daring andprecision. Mehldau moves further into the Fab Four songbook by teaming up with another stellar saxman, Mark Turner, on "She Said, She Said," as the duo digs into the song's strange, serpentine structure with an adventurer's glee. And Mehldau leaves jazz conventions receding quickly in the rearview when he teams with soprano superstar Renée Fleming on the bold modern-classical adventure that is his ambitious song-cycle "The Book of Hours."
