Comment:
Back in college (about 18 years ago; damn, I'm gettin' old...), we had an annual Sunday afternoon lawn party each spring featuring a late-60's cover band that would play various classic rock nuggets and jam in the sunshine. Would there be chemical enhancements? I work for the U.S. government, so I'm not saying... anyway, this mix is aimed at capturing the vibe. Not necessarily the kind of music I listen to very often these days, but on the right kind of sunny afternoon...
Feedback:
Nice picks - entirely inappropriate to current weather where I am though :)
Some great stuff, for sure--it definitely has a summer vibe going for it. I, personally (NOTE: this is just my opinion, once again furnished for discussion purposes), could do without the Doors, Supertramp or that particular Traffic tune, but who am I to quibble? :-) Conversely, I *really* love the Stones, Moby Grape, Dylan and Byrds picks.
Rob: I don't necessarily disagree. Oddly enough, though, the Doors/Supertramp/Traffic songs are actually the ones most in line with the vibe I was after here, with that jazzy, keyboard-heavy emphasis. And while I am by no means a fan of Supertramp, their first, self-titled album is actually an underappreciated gem, owing far more to Traffic than their later, painfully lame prog/pop efforts.
Oh, I definitely see their worth for the mix's sake. I was just looking to get a feel for your take on the bands themselves... I haven't heard the first Supertramp album in *years*, though.
Nice one popkulcher-man......re: Supertramp, while I can't get behind *everything* they do I still find some of it interesting. (In small doses.., and as "period pieces" more than anything. Still, it's been years since...)nice Brinsley choice, too.....
