The Runaways
Comment:
It's no wonder the Runaways' story became a big-deal biopic — it's a classic American-dream tale of girls with stars in their eyes grabbing for the brass ring in Tinseltown. It's all right there in "Hollywood," where a 17-year-old Cherie sings, "I can make the whole world mine" and means it. Of course, all that ambition wouldn't have meant much if the Runaways didn't have the goods to back it up, and Jett's metal-tinged guitar chomp takes a big bite out of bad-girl anthem "Gotta Get Out Tonight," leaving little doubt about the Runaways' rock 'n' roll cred. The band wasn't just a one-trick pony, though — when you least expect it, their softer side peeks out, showing a little '60s love with a slowed-down take on the Beatles' "Eight Days a Week."
