Comment:
A chronological soundtrack narrative to my trip to Chicago. Tracks 1-2 - I listened to my "There Was a Loophole in My Dreamin'" mix on the plane. 3-5 We drove to Amy's sister's dorm and listened to these in the car. 6 - A song from a webpage we were amused by in Laura's dorm. We bought cameras (You know these are twenty dollars, right?) and I drew a penguin on mine and Laura put a swan on hers. I stuck them in my shoes so we could smuggle them into the Vic(they didn't allow cameras). (Excuse me sir, can I see your ticket? I don't have any cameras! Especially not in my shoes!) 7 - The song we spent half of Mr. Sheik's set (not very long) trying to get Duncan Sheik to play...incidentally, the only song we knew by him. 8 - In this song he sang "Take Me to Your Leader" we later decided that this established that he was an alien. Jerry has cool pants. 9 - Radiohead cover. Not too bad. 10 - We won't change our plans, Ben, I promise! He opened his set with this song. 11 - A really cool cover. 12 - Another one that was really cool live. 13 - Bill Clinton played sax with Ben on this one! It ruled! Kevin Spacey was there too...he was really drunk, and he crowdsurfed. He was flirting with Amy's sister. 14-15 Right after one another. I get giddy just thinking about it. 16 - Woo! 17 - As inspired by Chicago natives. 18 - His final encore was singing this song in Japanese. We then went out to eat, at "Clark's" across the street(Zydeco chicken!), and were astonished to see Ben Folds come in to eat there! We got him to sign stuff. He eats?!? You mean he's a regular person?!? Amy: I bantered with him AND patted him on the back AND shook his hand. Laura's friend: He liked my belt! Russ: He used my Sharpie! 19-20 In the car on the way back to Amy's house. 21-22 In the plane on the way home I listened to "The Toaster Oven Sessions Volume 1: In Honor of Russ's Birthday". The title comes from when we heard the following uttered from a lady on the el: "French toast isn't toast, french toast is eggs. Its got eggs, and bread, and sugar, sugar, sugar." (EDIT: I updated the cover to a lovely one designed by none other than Amy herself!)
