It may have been the decade's halfway point, but for country music, 1995 was anything but middle of the road. Especially for Tim McGraw, the superstar who kicked it all off with the year's first chart-topper — the appropriately titled, just-in-time ballad "Not a Moment Too Soon" — before moving on to three more '95 hits, including a rowdy "I Like It, I Love It" and the lost-love wail of "Can't Be Really Gone." It was working-man's hero Aaron Tippin who scored the year's final #1 hit with "That's As Close As I'll Get to Loving You," while in between there were new sounds from old friends (Reba McEntire and "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter") and a career-making debut in the form of "What Mattered Most," the first-place stunner from new kid on the block Ty Herndon.
