My girlfriend is obsessed with this song and just yesterday was downloading all these bands... of course, that's AFTER I corrected her miswritten lyrics ~eric strip and rocket ship or hanson rockin from the crip, bikini-killin' built-a-spill, it's plain to see that i don't fit~ I was saying "Uhh... Amanda... those are band names." "Ohhhhh!!!"

Wow... one of the most clever ideas I've seen posted here in some time. (Though, if you end up revising it, I'd suggest opening with the Mary Lou song itself.) Any No Depression/alt.country fans here willing to step up to the plate with a comparable "His N.D. World" mix? (Mary Lou Lord sang an alternate version in concert name-checking a dozen alt.country bands instead.)

Just noticed the absence of Calvin, Kim, Kim, Kim and Kim from the end of the song. Looks like you'll need to track down some Beat Happening, Sonic Youth, and Breeders (not sure about the other 2 Kims; I've heard different speculation).

I'm going to do a mix called His Indy world. But all the songs are going to be about Indiana Jones.

I'm until I fill the Butterglory song before adding "His Indie World" to make sure I have time. As for the Calvin, Kim x 4, I thought about it but there just isn't enough space :) So what have you heard about the other 2 Kims?

Heh heh...clever idea. Can I have this mix? As for a Butterglory song try "Skills of the Star Pilot" it's an excellent song. The other Kims? How 'bout Kim of the Fastbacks? Kim (Shattuck) of the Muffs? I dunno.

Personally, I'd like to think it's Kim Richards, child star of Escape To Witch Mountain (and, alas, later the pathetic sitcom Helly Larry), who fueled many a childhood fantasy back in the day... but I suppose that would be unlikely.

Was that Kim Richards on "Hello Larry"? I thought she looked familiar (having recently seen the episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" from which "Hello Larry" was spun-off).

I see you finally found your Butterglory song and even fit the Mary Lou Lord song in... good work.

Hey, it's 8 years later but I was putting together a mix on this same theme so I thought I'd log on and see who else had the same idea. I should point out that you're missing Heavenly between the Silver Jews and Huggy Bear.
