Comment:
Short but sweet tribute to some great garage girls, mostly of the 60s (with a few notable exceptions for affect). Thanks to Lo-Fi for Japan's own Cupids and to Gerry for the classic Headcoatees track. Couldn't decide on which Shangri-Las track to use - since both are great, I figured two wouldn't hurt. "Women of the world take over, cause if you don't the world will come to an end.... and it won't take long."Feedback:
Hey Sean, looks fabulous!! Some I know, many I don't know. You know I'm going to have to have this, right? Girls really do kick ass.
Well all right! Love dem girls! I can't fault your Shangri-las picks at all, but they had more than 2 worthy songs: how 'bout Leader of the Pack and that cheezy tearjerker I Can Never Go Home Anymore for vol. 2? And I agree with your sentiment -- I'm ready for the women to take over too. They can't do much worse.
Have you ever seen the rain?
cool man , i want this looks good right now, it's freezing up here and it's getting colder
Looks intriguing, though can't say I'm familiar with a lot of the oldies here. My own "girls" mix was more dominated by that brief, shining moment in the mid-90's when half the great indie/alternative songs had female vocals (i.e. Liz Phair, Bettie Serveert, Breeders, Fastbacks, Sleater-Kinney, Barbara Manning, Helium, etc.). One of these days I'll update that mix and get it posted here.
Did you consider any Freddie Mercury tracks, my good man :)
Gawd damn! Nice one Sean.
fun and games!! another great mix, sean.
i love it! i love it! i love it! i would love to have it... thee headcoatees davy crockett is one of my all time favourite songs ... there is no better song to yell out at the top of your lungs!!
Right on! Great mix Mr. Lally. =)
Thanks for the mention, Sean. You're most welcome. This is a great mix. Lots I don't know and would like to. I have every other mix you've made (just about), and this is a worthy addition.
Groovy garage gals get me ga-ga too. Great stuff.
Great stuff Sean. Well rounded out , I think, between the old and the new.Nice work.
Fatastic Sean! Most of the songs i never heard, but you got the tasteso i believe it's GREAT;) I need this one later... send your mixes on Monaday...Have a nice evening!
Phenomenal. As I said when you were talking about this very idea, please save me a copy. And feel better, goddamnit!
P.S. Nice O'Rourke quote there. Find the bunny. Make it talk.
Go Giiiirrrrrllllsss! ..and girls from garages are even better! Good stuff Sean!
Thank you all for the comments. Rob is very kindly refering to the fact that I'm laid up with an ugly cold right now.
go go go-go garage girls! This loooks like a classic -
This looks great, I'd love to get a copy!
This looks great, Sean, have you recieved the mix i sent you yet?
Starting with The Chymes is a good sign, it's a long time favorite of mine. Don't know too much girl stuff, The Shangri Las & Shonen Knife of course, but the other bands I have to inspect!
Man! Do you have some mighty rockin' mixes Sean, thanks for the reccomendation - But I guess I'm going to have rate this one as tops, just by the mere inclusion of Death By Chocolate!
