Comment:

Jumping into the fray with this one. I've been digging everyone's holiday mixes of late, but this one is designed ultimately to clear out the house when you finally want to go to bed. Designed to say, "Yeah, you damned holiday goons - get the hell off my snowy lawn!" Well, it's not all shameless - there are a few of my xmas faves buried in here; you decide which these are. By the way, the opening track is from a press conference held earlier this year by the "president". Sorta sums up my thoughts about this political year. Anywho, always remember and never forget - tilt of the Earth's axis is the reason for the season. Incidentally, nothing says Xmas quite like the Ventures and Singing Dogs. Dig it!

Good one, Sean. I'll take a nod from you for your use of "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis" (see my "It was Christmas outside"). ;-)

This outta clear the house faster than a christmas tree fire. Although there are some gems. I especially like 3, 8-11 & 15.

As a Lonely Jew At Christmas, let's just say that I find this far less unlistenable than a legitimate Christmas mix, chock full of Celine, Mariah, Whitney, and the like. Great use of the Dubya quote, too... I imagine you could come up with quite a mix composed entirely of the appointed president's verbal gaffes. Maybe something from Trent Lott to wrap it up.

Great one Sean, can't go wrong with a mix that starts with GW, ends with Esquival and has Waits, Spike Jones and the SN Zippers in the middle

That G.W. sure knows how to honor the "Prince of Peace". Anyway..some house clearing sounds and one of my faves (which isn't a house clearing song at all). Actually a song not on this mix that is a very memorable song for me is The Royal Guardsmens' "Snoopy's Christmas". I first heard the it in 1968 st the age of 4 and it was one of my first records. I still love the catchy chorus and harmonies that it seems every band could pull off in the Sixties. Of course the "asking peace of all the world and goodwill to man" sentiment is universal, and the related anti-war subtext works because it's not directly stated. That childhood charm might be why I love that Joey Spampinato song so much too. "If people all over the world could just see it too"

Ummmmhhhhhhhhh, hello! I used Run Run Rudolph on my 1988 "People Obsessed With Poop (Oh yeah, Merry Xmas)" mix. How about some props for me, yo!

muy bueno! except i think this will get the party started, not clear it out -- spesh esquivel and the ventures. and isn't it shocking that dubya is subconsciously a who fan?

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like our president making an ass of himself yet again.

awesome, I saw that clip of George Bush on The Daily Show with John Stewart and was paralytic with laughter, How is the boy president anyway?
Seriously this is a great christmas mix. I have the Heatmiser/ Snowmiser songs by the Kabalas along with Hanukah Oi Hanukah and I have a little driedel.

Indeed on the "tilt of the Earth" as "the reason"..! (only a week to Solstice, then we can start movin' thru' this winter.) Great picks here, as to your favorites..? I'm going with nos. 9, 14, 25 & 27...what do I win?!

the title of this mix made me think that this was "A Very Merzbow Christmas." Now THAT would be unlistenable (but interesting, nonetheless.)

Great idea, and of the tracks I know (not many), great mix too!
Hmm. The Bush speech may well face stiff competition from Blair's 'post-Cherac debacle' address for the 'Least Impressive Press Conference of the Year' award. With Mrs Blair's sickening media-friendly blub-fest a close third. You really have to see it to believe it.

Very nice! I love the tracks...I'll probably need this one in the future. By the way, they asked what would happen if the earth wasn't tilted on one of my practice exams for the GRE. I couldn't help but think of you when I answered that one!

Not too much on here that would clear *me* out of a house, this is a pretty swell mix. If you REALLY want people out, get the three V/VM christmas comps (Stuffing, Turkey, and... I forget the title of the third). GUARANTEED to make anyone head for the hills!

To my knowledge, the Singing Dogs were put to sleep. Long live the Singing Dogs!

Now that you mention it, I first heard Jingle Bell Rock when I was 2 1/2 years of age. I immediately formed the idea in my tiny brain of using it in a mix. I never did but damn it, you owe me some credit! Look at me, pay attention to me. I'm super smart!!!

Is that REALLY Joey Ramone doing the Darlene Love song? This is really quite a collection, especially the Tom Waits of course. I heard him do a version of that combined with Silent Night on Austin City Limits, and it was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen or heard. Unfortunately, they say they are unable to sell individual episodes, and have more or less ignored my constant pleading to replay it, so I can't see it again and end up just telling people about it over and over. Oh well.
