Comment:

As distinctive as the Squeeze sound is, the band was never stuck in a stylistic rut — they were able to dart among different musical modes at a moment's notice, delivering whatever sound suited their whim with a wallop. Glenn Tilbrook does his best Sun Sessions Elvis on "Messed Around," while the band revs up some righteous rockabilly riffs. The shot-of-whisky-at-2-a.m. saloon-song vibe of "When the Hangover Strikes" could've made Sinatra sweat. And the twisted travelogue "I Think I'm Go Go" makes for a delightfully off-the-wall avant-pop moment, with Difford and Tilbrook trading lines that slowly add up to a portrait of on-the-road madness.
