Comment:
Ok, I'll admit that I like holiday music but I hate hearing the same old Bing Crosby & Nat King Cole's over and over. One year I worked in a mall where all they played was some wanker album by Manneheim Steamroller or Yanni or something....I wanted to pull my ears off with pliers and stuff up the holes with the fleshy pulps. That didn't happen and well folks, this is over 2hrs. & 40 mins. of X-mas music w/o one song by Crosby, Cole, Yanni, etc. Above all I wanted the 2 CDs to emphasize feeling and flow while having the greatest possible range of musical styles: a mix of 50s-60s big band & jazz, blues, country, salsa, pop and a few other surprises. My favorite tracks lately include the ones by James Brown, Cyndi Lauper, The Pogues, Louis Armstrong & Leon Redbone. Still, I wish I had more like these....post X-mas trades anyone???
Feedback:
wow. i completely agree with you, i'd much rather come across something like this than listen to the same old songs. they're not bad tunes, but we always listen to them at the same tiem every year. good mix here
my wife made me buy that mannheim steamroller album, not to mention the *choke* garth brooks xmas album, but i made sure that we have alot of the stuff you have on this mix. these are some of the best xmas tunes around, i think. good mix.
