Comment:

This mix actually has very little to do with Joe Strummer (other then the Clash covers in it and some references/samples in some of the songs). Its just what I made after hearing he died. I have missed The Clash for years and now I miss them even more. :(

I guess a lot of us have the Clash in mind today. I guess the one positive is being spared a truly hokey reunion concert. Though let the record state that I would have gladly paid big bucks to see a hokey Clash reunion concert.

....may the gates be flung wide! JOE is in town....nice mix, too! (I'd have paid gobs for a "hokey reunion" too...)

My hero died today. Not because The Clash dictated punk doctrine to theirs and every generation to follow, but into his 40 and 50's his music portrayed a being who simply was in awe of music. He has taught me to be in awe of music. The sounds on "X Ray Style" could tear me out of any unpleasant state of mind. He gave time out of mind; time within what was and always will be remembered as a gleaming white light of honest love for the creation and application (political, but more crucially spiritual) of music. God bless him. He way my hero.
