Comment:
As if "Kick In the Door" wasn't a silver-screen production to begin with — DJ Premier beats, lathered in loops from Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Martin Lawrence, and Junior M.A.F.I.A. — the Notorious B.I.G. classic also slings barbed-wire verses at Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah … even the song's producer. In other words, it's a perfect example of Biggie's Technicolor presence, a pop star who isn't afraid to stare you down. Bad Boy's roster is full of larger-than-life characters like that, from a sidekick-turned-solo-star-turned-preacher (Mase) to a trio of Dirty South troublemakers (Gorilla Zoe, 8-Ball & MJG) and a couple of synth-chased R&B groups (New Edition, Total).
