Bring Me the Horizon
Artist | Song |
Comment:
Named after a line in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and forged in Sheffield — the English town that, appropriately enough, used to specialise in the industrial manipulation of molten steel — Bring Me the Horizon has been re-animating up the too-often flaccid corpse of death/metalcore since the band debuted in 2005 with an EP featuring "Traitors Never Play Hangman" and the rhythmically undead "Rawwwrr!" A willingness to graft accessible melodic elements onto their sound took second album Suicide Season (2008) into the Top 30 here in Australia, and the band's meteor has been shooting upwards since. "It Never Ends" boasts an intriguing choral arrangement, and "Memorial" is one of the well-crafted atmospheric tracks that punctuates and paces the excellent, chart-topping third album, There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret (2010).
