Comment:

Believe it or not, the Jersey boy choruses of “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” helped Bon Jovi’s Have a Nice Day album earn the group their biggest first-week sales yet. But they weren’t the only rock band with an excuse to pop — or break — champagne bottles in 2006. While “Gold Lion” is as edgy as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ earlier singles, it kept the trio’s winning streak going with its perfect blend of peacock guitars, chunky drums, and manic melodies. Rise Against and Atreyu also infiltrated the mainstream by sticking to their strong points, from the head-rush hooks and screeching peaks of “Ready to Fall” to the pit-pleasing metalcore of “Ex’s and Oh’s.”
