Comment:
In November '02 and January '03, respectively, the German edition of Rolling Stone magazine came with two CDs called "First Wave Parts 1& 2 - Post-Punk Greats" featuring 28 tracks. While I totally agreed on their choice of artists, I wasn't too happy with their selection of songs, so I decided to put together my own version. About a handful of their tracks survived, the rest was heavily tampered with. If some of my choices seem obvious it's because, obviously, these are the best (or at least my favorite) efforts by the artists in question.Feedback:
Hey, I get to comment first! It pays to stay up until 1 a.m.! You can't go wrong with this mix Thommy Boy. Red Guitars, Slits, Au Pairs, Go-Betweens, Wire... I subscribe to Rolling Stone. Where the hell are my free CDs!?
maybe its because i'm a Swede but i think Rolling stone magazine are boring but hey they missed Nirvana but they discover Dave Matthews band ;), but if they ever do mixes like this i can forgive them but of course yours are better but please send me their tracklist if you can
A great mix Thomas and a happy new year to you! I especially like The Fall and Julian Cope.
Lotsa' great ones here Thomas..., although I'd differ with a few choices, i.e., Squeeze: "Wild Sewage Tickles Brazil" or "Bang Bang";G.P & the Rumour: "Local Girls"; but that's just nit-pickin'....solid mix.
Great stuff Thomas, 'specially the Chrome & Ubu. Looks like the overseas version of RS is much hipper than the middle aged buttrag they have over here.
Excellent Thomas. Love the Au Pairs, Slits and Go-Betweens inclusion.
