Comment:

With the string of clubs bearing his name, the 14 GRAMMYS® lining his shelf, and his half-century's worth of genre-defining recordings, it's hard to imagine just how B.B. King could possibly still have the blues. But over the course of an unimaginably hard childhood, the blues tattooed itself into the marrow of his very bones, so when he opens his mouth to sing, or picks up Lucille and begins to play, it simply can't help but come out — both on record and onstage. His dozens of studio sets are required listening; his 1964 stand at Chicago's Regal Theater is the stuff of legend, and you can hear why on the quartet of cuts included here. Which says nothing of his impact on other giants; you'll hear him here alongside everyone from U2 to Sheryl Crow, and all those famous friends are acutely aware that he's a bona-fide American treasure. B.B. and Lucille have been setting souls on fire for six decades, and, yes, this is the place to learn just how they've done it.
