Comment:

In a simple twist of fate, song thrush Sarah McLachlan may wind up being more remembered for her groundbreaking "sisters doing it for themselves" series of Lilith Fair tours than for her '90s-era alt-rock goddess status or her crystalline voice — and that would be a shame. Because when Sarah sits down at the keyboard, it's as though a window were opened up into her psyche: no artificial distance between the listener and her nerve endings, no gap between the audience and her heart. Over the course of five studio albums, a handful of live discs, and a Christmas collection, McLachlan has in many ways donned for Gen X the sensitive old soul mantle that fellow Canadian Joni Mitchell once sported for the Woodstock-era boomers.
