Just in case you didn't know, there were two Marthas in the Toronto-formed new wave cornerstone outfit Martha & The Muffins — Martha Johnson, who played keyboards and fronted the band on '80s international hit "Echo Beach," a three-minute masterpiece of post-punk restraint and addictive synth-pop, and Martha Ladly, who added an extra layer of synths/keys and would go on to sing backing vocals with Roxy Music while pursuing a career in album graphic design with New Order collaborator and iconic art director Peter Saville. Jocelyn Lanois, sister of mix-desk genius Daniel Lanois — whose early, pre-U2 production credits include This Is the Ice Age, featuring the brilliant "Swimming" — also passed through the band's ranks, but by 1992's Modern Lullaby (check out pretty lead single "Rainbow Sign"), the band was effectively a duo (Johnson and founding member Mark Gane). The group's 2010 return to the studio, Delicate, carried the standout tune "Life's Too Short to Long
