Comment:
Disc 2 of the mixes for my new friend. In many ways, this is my favorite - lots of smooth transitions and even stranger mixes. The big finale of Dirty Water seems like the logical end of the mix, but suddently the very sparse Dylan song wraps it up, kinda like the credits music in a movie. A very strange switch for the ear, but somehow pleasing for the end of the two mixes. Slipping in Rigoreus (sung in Dutch) is kinda pretentious, but it's a beautiful song and highlights the fact that you don't need to know what's being sung to get the emotion. This mix also features some of my favorite underground classics (Basehead, Lou Reed, Culture Club, Dylan), and generally jumps everywhere without sounding like an accident with the random button.Feedback:
that treat her right song takes me back - used to see them live in the 80s at jacks in central sq - until it sadly burnt down. oh, and that reminds me of another band that frequented jacks - chain link fence - feat. marty barrett, bro of dicky barrett, but now i'm probably dating myself again...
actually, i think it was billy barrett, not marty, but, come on, it was like 15 years ago!
Nice mix.
