Comment:

A while ago, a round of communicating on message boards only in haiku gave birth to the Haiku Mix. When I later moved on to limericks, I threatened to post only in limerick. Someone quickly pointed out that such a plan would require a limerick mix. Though I didn't go through with the posting threat, I can't pass up a mix challenege. Here are two possible limericks - they won't both fit on a CD, unless you use the three songs that introduce both limericks only once and program the player to run them again before the second limerick. Am I insane? Yes.

This is so clever. Now go an recreate this same idea using limericks you fish out of a bathroom stall. Like, "If it's yellow, let it mellow/If it's brown, flush it down."

this mix is totally what this site should be about. something that took a lot of thought and time to put together rather than some random collection of crap thrown together and called a "mix". This is art.

Whether it's a good listen or not, this is a creative collection that made me chuckle. Congrats on the MOTW honors, but the real reason to celebrate is that the queen of Can o' Duh's reign of error is finally over.

While I agree that this is certainly clever, it seems to me that a good mix should have MUSIC that flows together in a cohesive and creative way, not just the song titles.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Eek, you've got a point - if you check out my other mixes you'll see that 80% are all about flow & vibe. But I do like the occassional odd-ball mix. Think of it as performance art vs. traditional theater!

that's why Eek has no mixes of course...just another one of these idiotic people who like to make stupid comments while hiding.

Right, Geoff, you just make stupid coments under your own name. :-) No offense to Doug's mix, which I love (as stated below), but the world (and this site) could use a whole lot less of your blowhard bullshit about what "pure brilliance" is and "what this site should be about". This site is different things to different people... just like mixing. *descends from his soapbox a bit shaken, but firm in his beliefs*

Right on Sir Rob! I thought Geoffy had previously said this site was nothing more than a "dumping ground". *sick of the Northern blowhard as well*

By the way, I apparently can't type when I'm on my soapbox. The word is "comments", not "coments". Oh well, my point is still the same. Sorry to clutter your mailbox, Doug.

Rob's "short" on intellect. he needs his soapbox to stand "tall". I bet he gets all trembly as he bangs out his error-ridden posts.

I stand by my remarks that this mix is pure brilliance. Sorry as well that this mix has become a dumping ground for idiotic comments from a number of people, especially those (Iron Chef, Eek, blowhard detection) who are too scared to make their comments public under their real ID's.
As for you Conroy...ah, why waste any more energy on a pile like you.

I am SERIOUSLY not worthy. This mix ... hell. I hope you write for Trouser Press or All Music or some place that will utilize your talents. Words fail me completely.

Date: 2/2/2003
If you'd like to stop "wasting energy" on me, Mr. Holland, you can start by stopping your time-honored practice of posting pathetic little remarks on my mixes as soon as they drop off of the "find a mix" radar. As I've started keeping them around for others' review, anyone is welcome to check them out.

seems like what Rob really wants is more people to look at his mixes. It's sad really. "look at me, look at me". Poor little Robbie.
And Rob? The paranoia you seem to be suffering from can be treated. You might want to go back on your meds.

You guys seriously need to cut it out and do your flaming somewhere else. Dougie, I've been looking through your mixes, and exactly as you said most of them are all about the music, so thanks for the clarification. Sorry that I started this stupidness.

Wow. I gotta say, getting Mix of the Week was the highlight of my AOTM years, but I'm almost more excited to be hosting a sweet flame war. Any chance you guys would like to take it to the Discussion Forum, where, you know, people discuss things? I hope no one takes offense when I eventually remove some of those comments, not 'cause I'm on one side or the other, but I'd like to see this archived with only relevant comments.
