In the four years of their recording career, the Smiths established one of the most original, influential sounds ever unleashed in the alt-rock universe. The mournful-but-magical ballad "I Know It's Over" maintained enough impact for Jeff Buckley to usher it into his repertoire years after the Smiths parted ways.
