Comment:

Squeeze played a big part in my (musical) life. As a classic-rock devouring high school student at the beginning of the '80's, they were one of the first bands I heard (alongside the Clash and the Jam) that turned me on to the fact that there was amazing music out there that wasn't getting played on the radio. That pretty much opened the door to R.E.M., the Replacements, Husker Du, Sonic Youth, and the rest of the college radio artists I discovered soon thereafter. I don't listen to much Squeeze these days (aside from maybe the excellent East Side Story), and I made this primarily so I could clear the rest of the Squeeze discs off my over-filled shelves. The disc includes only their 1977-1982 highlights; I never paid much attention to their career after their first break-up/reunion.

Yeah, this is a totally solid collection. And you led off with a killer - great guitar solo on that song.

Right with ya' on this band! East Side Story is the album that turned my head by them, still love it. And I like quite a few cuts off Cosi Fan Tutti.., "I Learnt How To Pray", "No Place Like Home".....gods bless Squeeze!

Wonderful Marc. Haven't listened to Squeeze in a long time. As I recall, the first Difford/Tillbrook solo album was worth a listen or two.

Yeah, I was thinking they were due for personal reassesment too. Always intersting to hear what other people's gateway to "cool" music was.

Weird. I did a mix that covered the same period. Nice choices.

This is very nice, and you picked two of my favourites: "Woman's World" and "Piccadilly."
