Comment:
If you're looking for a guitar hero, look no further than the brilliant Clarence White - guitar genius of the latter-day Byrds, amazing acoustic player in the Kentucky Colonels, stupendous session man, and so much more. Tragically, he was cut down early in life, hit by a drunk driver while loading equipment into his car one night after a gig. He wasn't even 30 years old. He left behind a legacy of flashy, yet humble country picking, the likes of which I've never seen since. He and fellow Byrd Gene Parsons also invented the mighty B-bender, a little gizmo that attaches to a Telecaster to help the player get some crazy steel guitar sounds. My first exposure to Clarence's playing was on the early Byrds tune "Time Between", a song I like so much I've included it twice. Hope you dig Clarence as much as I do. He is a real guitar legend. Many thanks to Gerry for the Kentucky Colonels tracks. Oh, also place the Byrds' "Farther Along" right before the final Nashville West track. OK? OK!Feedback:
heard Clarence was pretty shloggered himself the night he was offed, stumbling around in the dark looking for his dick and wandered into the roadway and *bam* GREAT session man though.
Yes. I want this.
A-OK! sign me up for the fan club.
Excellent.
I agree, this is very cool. Very.
wish I knew a little more about guitar playing so I could give a good comment but there's alot of tunes on here I know that I love and I know I can trust you on the rest.
wonderful tribute!
Absolutely wonderful!
Thank for the introduction it was nice to look up some good songs on someone I didn't know alot about
I am completely unfamiliar with his work, but I trust your judgement when it comes to guitar playin'!
Very nice choice. I like this series and this would be welcome edition for my ears. Toss it in my pile. (Your pile is being shipped out this weeK)

Missed this the first time around. Kudos on the nod to Mr. White. Personally, I'm not a big fan of his Byrds songs -- for my money, the only songs I really care for from the Byrds' post-Sweetheart period are the McGuinn-penned ones -- but his playing was phenomenal. The live tracks in particular (on both the Byrds at Fillmore and Untitled, as well as various boots) showcase some amazing duels between McGuinn and White, and as a live band their guitar work was far more interesting than other late '60's bands.
you forgot Old Blue, Tulsa County Blue, and 100 Years from Now- all Byrds, all incredible Clarence riffs.
