For Jana. Title from the Jesse Malin track. Am I the only person out there who prefers the Camper Van Beethoven version of "Matchstick Men" to the original (Status Quo) version?

Props on the Bonnie Billy pick, did you happen to catch him at the Rex? Also, I love the Gang of Four tune. Very nice mix.

I did indeed catch that show, which is what prompted my inclusion of that tune. :-) I've had it in my head since Monday night.

Camper Beethoven over the Status Quo? Tough call. I think it depends almost soleley on preference over the violin or tremolo (or is it a vibrato?) guitar part. The mix is good, nonetheless.

Hey, you got the Green on Red reissues too, eh? Otis Redding into Gang of Four? Hmmm. Johnny said that he didn't like the show at the Rex - I was shocked. Not. How was it? Did you see CVB last week? I like both versions of that song, though the CVB sounds better.

Nice stuff, I'm really developing a taste for Otis Redding. And I've only heard parts of Jesse Malin's album, but what I've heard sounds pretty good.

Very nice, Rob. The Camper version of that song has always been a favorite of mine. Great mix, as always.

Thanks Rob! There is a lot here I am not familiar with, so I'm really excited about this.

Hi Rob! This looks like a cool mix. I just saw CVB down here in Philadelphia, where they did "Pictures of Matchstick Men." I like both versions. CVB was great, (I put a review on my website if you're interested) but the show ended oddly when David Lowery appeared to get maced by a fan. Not sure what the story is there.

Nice mix of stuff here. The CVB show and the mace story is quite suspicious depending on who you talk to, but then this is Philadelphia and the natives (I am but a transplant)are unique. I sadly missed the show.

Yep...., nice mix here. Especially love the stretch from 6-13; I'll take Camper van's version *every day*! seemed to not only breathe new life into it, but the instrumentation is far better, imho. That Neu! track is outstanding!

I not only prefer the Camper version, it is my favorite Camper tune. Great stuff here Rob and Valis is right, that Neu! is outstanding.

Dude, I can't believe you're knocking the Quo! Actually, it's been awhile since I heard either version. Add me to the list of those who say YAH! to NEU! as well as the rest of this mix. Did you pick up that recent Clean comp? Was wondering if I needed that much jangle in my life.

Actually, I really like the Quo version of that song. I just realized yesterday that I prefer the Camper version (I played them one after the other to determine which one I wanted to include here). No, I don't have any new Clean comp... just the original "Compilation" plus "Odditties" (sic).

I like both versions of Matchstick Men, but slightly prefer CVB, probably because it is a fresher version of an old favorite. This looks like a great mix, Rob. =)

Sorry to be so late with a comment. You mean to tell me that CVB song is a cover! ;) Actually I think I heard their version before the original, and I've always favored it. They were certainly a good covers band. Also like the Clean and Gang of Four. Speaking of covers, I'm drawing a blank on who did a version of Green Manalishi. I want to say either Ted Nugent ot B.O.C.

Great Morrissey track- that remind me that I have been meaning to make a single artist mix of his stuff...
