Comment:

I'm trying to put together a good anti-war mix without relying on the standards ("Fortunate Son", Country Joe and the Fish, etc.). Anyone have suggestions for songs I could add?

You have some great choices here. Just a few suggestions:
"If I Had a Rocket Launcher" by Bruce Cockburn
"Oliver's Army" by Elvis Costello
"Bullet the Blue Sky" by U2

Kate Bush's "Army Dreamers" and Ani DiFranco's "Roll With It" -------- wicked art, btw.

Unfortunately, that's an actual toy, sold by JC Penney.

See my "Hooray for War" mix, as well as others by Gerald McDonald, Casetta, and more. You've hit some classics here already - espec. the Pogues tunes. Keep fighting the GOOD fight!

Almost anything by Crass would fit in perfect on an anti-war mix, other good choices include the Dead Kennedys, and Anti-Flag.

A couple of my favorite anti-war songs include "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore" by John Prine (check out my Profile Statement for more detailed lyrics from that song), there's also "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath (once described by my friend Snake as the best anti-war song ever).

Let's see . . . offhand I can think of "Nuclear War" by Sun Ra (also covered by Yo La Tengo), "I Don't Want to Be a Soldier Mama" by John Lennon, "Rumours of War" by Billy Bragg, and "8 1/2 Minutes" by The Dismemberment Plan, all fine songs. The previously mentioned Kate Bush song would've been another one of my picks.
