Very nice - ain't it strange how many composers did nine symphonies (or did Beethoven set a precedent that other aspired too?).Although I suppose Bruckner doesn't count, didn't he have a Symphony No. 0 and Symphony No. 00 even?Good work Dr Hoover.

Interesting concept. I would have put the Beatles musique conrete inspired Revolution 9 in there for kicks--but thats me.

It's my guess that any composer whose career extends to a ninth symph. is worthy listening. This reminds me of how little I know about classical music. Humbling.

Beethoven inadvertently set the 9 symphonies precedent, beyond which no composer was apparently supposed to go (I know Mahler was terrified of writing his 9th symphony). Then again, Havergal Brian composed 32 symphonies and lived to be 96. Obviously you never can tell.
