Comment:
A few things you should know in order to understand why this mix exists:1. I do a radio show on the weekend called "Radio Asinine." I have been doing it since Fall 2001, and it is a great deal of fun. 2. Twice during its run I have done a special edition called "The Long-Ass Song Show," where I basically play songs around the 10-20 minute mark. The shortest I'll play is about 7 minutes, and the longest I've played was 45 minutes (Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick.")3. A fellow DJ and good friend of mine by the name of Dan had made a mix CD called "64 Short Songs," which contains exactly what it advertises. (Just as a side note, Dan's band, Snot Patties, has appeared on many of my mixes. He even appears by himself on Rarities #6.)4. Tired of the crap that mp3.com had been sending us, Dan decided to use "64 Short Songs" as an overnight CD (yes, kids... a CD that you leave on overnight, when there are no shows.)5. Someone suggested that there be an overnight cd called "6.4 Long Songs."6. I decided that I was the man for the job.6.4. Why the hell did I do that? All but two of the songs (Stevie Wonder and the Liars) were on one of the Long-Ass shows. I decided to use the Liars as the .4 because a) at 30 minutes, it was easily divisible; b) as the song repeats the same three seconds over and over again, it was even more easily divisible. The question is, will anyone play it?No.Feedback:
But such a mix means the ratio of good songs is very high - Yes, Sigur Ros, Stevie Wonder and Television all being cases in point.
Wow, I forgot about yes heart of the sunrise...amazing song. I'm making the same mix, I hope you don't mind I use it.
