Comment:

It's been about half a year since I did my first Alpha-Zed experiment, and I've bought CDs from close to a hundred new artists since then, so I thought it might be a good time to test myself with this experiment again... mixing all the artists I own in alphabetical order (using none of the songs from the Alpha-Zed series), forcing me to strive for interesting and uniue transitions and flow, and also forcing me to give consideration to artist of mine I usually gloss over when making a mix. Also, yes, it's a way of letting other mixes get an idea of what I own for creating CDs for trade. Although the one thing is thafrom this, you can't tell, say, that I really don't particularly like Ash or Astrid, but that I love Arco and Alfie, since they all get equal billing, in a sense. But, hey, I do love at least 85% of the artists I own, so there you go! And this time around, I am making these mixes all at a CD-recordable length, and making sure that despite the gimmick, that I'm creating an excellent mix CD in my opinion for every go. Anyway, I'm obviously always adding to my collection (why I even bought an Autumn Leaves CD today, but I didn't want to add them in, because I didn't want to have to start the next CD with a Better Than Ezra song)... so feel free to let me know, based on this, what artists you think are unfairly missing from the collection. I'm always loking for more (but I'm NOT buying a Beatles album).

This sounds like a fun idea, and a good reason to go through your entire collection--if you don't mind, I might try it too! :-)

Just curious, why no Beatles? I have a friend who fought against them for so long it was ridiculous. He eventually was put to sleep. No he wasn't really, but he did buy Abbey Road. On a more serious note, Ace of Base would be a good way to kick this off. OK, that wasn't serious either.

The Beatles are great tunesmiths, though I'm not big on their lyrics at all, and honestly not that big on their performace of thir songs. I find myself usually fonder of Beatles covers than the original versions.

I'd leave them off mixes nowadays, most likely... I'm just not omitting ANYTHING while making these... but I'll stand behind Apple's "When the Pawn" album, and there's still two of BNL's earlier albums that I'm very fond of... but Better Than Ezra can bite it... that's just a CD hat no store will buy used.
