Comment:

To accompany my Harrison and McCartney mixes, this is a best-of compilation. I could do a whole 'nother mix of Lennon tunes that I love just as much, but this will do for now.

John Lennon is my hero, and this is a good mix. However, I would add my two favorites of his,Working Class Hero and Just like Starting Over. I'd take off God and Free as a Bird. Also noticably absent is 'come together'...but any CD with songs of the caliber you put on is bound to rock!

Thanks for the comment! I never liked "Just Like Starting Over." In fact, the 1980/81/82 releases are just too... produced? That's not quite the right word, but it's close IMHO. As for Working Class Hero, great song, just no room. "God" is a masterpiece. "God is a concept by which we measure our pain..." What a lyric! The demo version of "Free as a Bird," without McCartney's influence, is beautiful and heart-wrenching and perfect. I would probably take off "Mind Games," if anything, but then I'd be tempted to put a couple tracks from the Lennon Anthology, most notably "Dear John," recorded just before his death... I don't know. There's so much good John Lennon solo work, that it really deserves it's own CD separate from his work with the Beatles.
