Needless to say, Foo Fighters aren't merely one more alternative in the Alternative Nation, but they do share styles — and the dial — with the movement's greatest bands. When it comes to ambition, maybe no band outstrips America's favorite power-punk popsters, Green Day, and nothing underscores the magnitude of their talent like the Berkeley-to-Broadway blast of "American Idiot."
