Comment:

Fifty years, a dozen GRAMMY® Awards . . . you'd better believe Paul Simon has left his mark all over the face of pop music. The Roches (two of whom guested on Simon's second solo album) carry an S&G-style flair for harmony to dizzyingly gorgeous heights on "Hammond Song." Iron & Wine, on the other hand, couples some folky fingerpicking with Simon's deceptively intimate lyrical dexterity in "Naked As We Came" from breakout album Our Endless Numbered Days. And when it comes to legacy, what better one can an artist leave than offspring groomed to carry on the family business, as son Harper Simon does in the lace-over-crinoline delicacy of "Berkeley Girl." From Melissa Manchester to Vampire Weekend, the most gifted, honored, and important artists of the past two generations owe Paul Simon a mighty debt.
