Comment:

My favorite 80 minutes from Ed, Tuli, Ken & Co. (most notably Steve & Peter, i.e. the Holy Modal Rounders). I went for more musical favorites here, skipping over some tunes ("Dirty Old Man", "Coca Cola Douche", etc.) that had "out there"/"ahead of its time" lyrical values if I wasn't so keen on the songs themselves. If someone would be kind enough to hook me up with a CDR'ed copy of Virgin Fugs, I'd be eternally grateful. Last songs cut: "Nameless Voices Crying for Kindness", "Nothing" and "Coming Down."

Holy moly. I was just wondering this very morning if the Fugs had made it to CD ... I think this is a must have ... What song is it that goes, "monday nothing, tuesday nothing, nothing nothing nothing...?"

Excellent Rob. Sally, It's called, appropriately enough, "Nothing."

Choice cuts, Rob. Been thinking it would be nice to have just the "musical" tracks minus the naughty bits. Do you have the Rhino Handmade box?

Is it true that the Fugs did not want that box set to come out? That seems to be the position taken on their website, though you have to wonder if it's just them funnin'. I only really know the first two albums. How is the rest of the stuff? Does it hold up against the rest? It seems as though much of this comp draws from those records, which is why I ask.

Sorry - that was a poorly worded query. I meant to say - does the post 2nd album stuff compare well to those first two records?

Perfect. Is "My Baby Done Left Me" the a cappella version or the live country/western version?

The third album, Tenderness Junction, is pretty great, as well, but I'm not as big on the last two studio albums (one track apiece). Golden Filth is a decent live record. And "My Baby Done Left Me" is the version from the first album.

Nice choices as for post 2nd album, I have to concur with Rob's comments. I would love a good retrospective of ESP records to be issued by someone sometime (that would soothe my music geek heart).
