Comment:

I'm currently teaching English at a high school in Japan, and this is a tape I made for one of my kids- whose knowledge of Western pop music consists of Britney Spears and J-Lo- when she asked me who the Smashing Pumpkins were. I tried to put mostly peppy, accessible songs on it . . . sort of ween her off of Britney slowly, ya know? She really liked the Weezer and the Go Sailor.

She wants to know Smashing Pumpkins, and you start her ot with "Eye?" Why would you start with the very moment that SP started sounding like Super Mario Brothers? If I'm going to turn someone onto SP, the material is all going to predate that song.
