Comment:
This was spurred on by seeing a video randomly at 4 am on tv the other day- my friend and I ended up searching through all his records to listen to them, as we had forgotten how great this band are... My favourite song has to be 'In Heat'- how can you not love a song that says "Get me to the vet, I need a rabies shot, i'm foaming at the mouth over what you got"?...Feedback:
Let me first say I have no dislike of The Fuzztones, they were a staple at The Dive in NYC and other garage hangs of my youth. The classic lineup of Ira (now with Nada Surf), Elan and Deb (who has since rejoined) produced some fine Pebbles recreations along with inspired originals. Where is Wa
I hit submit, sorry. I need glasses as my eyes are going I think.
Anyway, Where is Ward 81? That is my fave Fuzztones moment aside from the Screaming Jay stuff. They were by far not my favorite of the whole garage scene and Rudi Prodrudi did a fine job of letting his on stage persona overtake him, that combined with some longstanding personal grudges, I tend to lessen the group wjhen given chance. care to fill me in on why you have such deep personal grudges against him? I don't really care, I just think its interesting...
I , for one , think they were one of the best bands of that genre. I don't think the Chesterfield Kings had the same...panache...I have the Flashbacks album that came out on Sundazed a few years ago, It's really good. This looks like a great collection too. Ever heard of the Gruesomes? They were a really good Canadian band from the same period.
Jen, my girlfriend, knows John Carlucci reasonably well and thinks he's a great guy... I'd like to hear this sometime, Laura.
John Carl was in The Speedies and he is a swell guy.
Thanks for the nice comments. I did have a blast playing in the Fuzztones, but Rudi still is burning bridges. We no longer speak. John Carlucci, aka John Carl, aka Speediejohn. http://www.myspace.com/speediejohn or http://www.speedies remix.com
