i've been losing myself in a lot of Albert Ayler lately. this mix = not so much a tribute as much as a love letter. i broke this up into 4 sections when putting this together (devils/spirits/truth/ghosts) which i think pulse through all of Ayler's stuff, and i've kept them here posterity's sake. can't really articulate what defines each category, per se, aside from that they make sense to me. chose not to include any obvious jazz peers (coltrane, coleman, sanders, etc.) because it'd just be too easy/lazy that way.
