Comment:

Designed not to be comprehensive, but as an introduction to whet the appetite of a Beatle-ignorant-Smashing Pumpkins-loving friend. Includes personal biases and songs meant to appeal to a particular taste (hence the lack of early songs). We could spend our whole lifetimes making different mixes of the Beatles. Wish I could've included more Abbey Road, but that album is an entity in and of itself.

nice to see some of the "weirder" tracks on there, eg maxwell and why dont we do it in the road. hey bulldog would be good on there, but good job! hope the recipient likes it.

how is it possible to be beatles ignorant?...the mind fairly boggles.

I like that it shows the artistic side of the Beatles rather than just their "I wanna hold your hand" era like a lot of "intro" compilations. A very strong mix.

The Beatles are one of the few bands I have yet to attempt to anthologize. (Mostly because I'd have a hard time settling for anything less than the entire last third of Abbey Road, which would defeat the purpose; but also because I'm hoping that one of these days they'll get around to remastering their catalogue.) If I did, however, my mix would be dramatically different from yours. I agree that little before Revolver merits inclusion, but, with a few exceptions (i.e. Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields), we part ways after that. I guess that's the beauty of a great band; fans can find entirely different things to enjoy.

I like overall, especially the White Album choices. Just one thing. I think George is underepresented, maybe "Within You Without You" or somethin should've been on there.
