Overseen by creative primer mover Ian Parton, Brighton-based six-piece the Go! Team exceeds its own sonic tag — "sugar-coated chaos" — in countless dynamic and electrifying ways, blending elements of old-school jump-rope hip-hop, extra-catchy pop, bone-shaking distortion, and cine-literate sampling into a resplendent, always surprising whole. Parton began the project as a bedroom hobby at the start of the millennium and debuted with the Mercury Prize-nominated Thunder, Lightning, Strike in 2004 — brassy, standout tracks "Ladyflash" and "Bottle Rocket" hinted at an outstanding talent that would be honed on 2007's Proof of Youth and perfected with 2011's fantastic Rolling Blackouts, a collaborative, internationally-flavoured venture featuring winning guest vocals by Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast (on "Buy Nothing Day") and Dominique Young Unique ("Apollo Throwdown"). Live, they're sensational, powered by wild-card lead vocalist, Ninja.
