Comment:

Help! This is the first mix I've ever made, and I'd love feedback on it, because I want it to be perfect (I guess doesn't everybody, but you get my drift . . .) My overly-long story is below: This mix is for the object of my affection -- we've had an on-again, off-again relationship (hot during the on-times, distant friends during the off-times) for the past nine years. I can honestly say I've never felt as passionate about anyone as I do about him, but our timing has just never been right. However, a lot has happened in the last few months - we've recently re-discovered each other after about 4 years "off", and it's been a whole new level emotionally -- the result of a lot of maturing and self-development on each of our parts. But yet again, our timing just sucks, because I'm about to go to grad school, and I just can't commit the time and devotion to a serious relationship right now (plus I recently ended a very long relationship and want the time to fully heal, and not let this just be a "rebound"). We've talked some about this together, and the consensus is that when we do it seriously, we want to do it right. However, I know I don't want to be with anyone else in the meantime (hence the last song), and he's said he feels the same way. We get to see each other every now and then, and I hope that will continue to be true while I'm in school. Someday, I could definitely see him being "the one", and I just want something that conveys that. I also want something that's a mix of playfully sexy and seriously emotional, BUT, without having too much of the type of songs that you'd be likely to play at your wedding or something, because we're not really there yet. Ideally, this mix will be something we can listen to either together during special times, or alone when we're missing each other. So, what do you think about this combo? I know some of the songs are a little "stock" but I tried to be selective about them, only including must-haves like the Marvin Gaye and Peter Gabriel. One thing I can say is that for the most part it evokes a "steamy" mood (with the possible exception of the Doors song, which has a slight "jolt" out of dreaminess that I'm not thrilled about). Thanks for reading, and again, I'd love feedback!!!

Some of the artists aren't my favorites, but that's not what I'm supposed to comment on...I think this mix works very well, evokes a mood...my boyfriend actually just put "Touch Me" on the latest mix he gave me and it fit perfectly. I think it works here too.

If I could suggest anything to add, (maybe to replace "Touch Me" if you don't think it fits) I would say "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. A sultry, steamy song that also goes right along with your situation. Good luck!

great first mix, and I think you've managed to set the tone you wanted for your situation. (by the by, I'd lay odds that you throw caution to the wind pretty damn soon)

I wonder if anyone will ever see this . . . it's Zebby from the above story . . . well, I guess it was a good mix, because after 5 years I'm back, because . . . we're getting married in May and I'm hunting for songs for our wedding favors (mix CD)!!!
