Comment:
It doesn't make much sense at first glance--but "trust me" it makes for an interesting audio experience. I mean, how could you not admire the sheer audacity of a mix that features Ella Fitzgerald covering Cream? (the B-side of my dad's 45 of Ella doing her version of "Hey Jude"?!); the original EC and the Attractions tune (Pump it Up) next to the song that ripped off its bassline (Wild Wild West); the weirdly smooth transition of Dusty Springfield to Hall and Oates.(Note: the cover image is a badly pixelated image of the scene in Hal Hartley's movie "Trust" where Maria dares a protesting Matthew to catch her, from a drop of at least ten feet. "I trust you," she says, hence the name of the movie, and the name of this mix.)
Feedback:
there are a lot of songs here
I trust you! This is pretty cool. Nice mix.
Awesome. A lot of guilty pleasures here.
A wise person once said that the mix tape is the last stronghold for songs that you love by certain artists who you would rather not own a whole album by...i.e., the guilty pleasure...
Yeah...like, I love the Flying Lizards...but only one song at a time.
That was a great movie. Martin Donovan is truly underrated. The mix looks awesome as well.
Trust me your mixes remind me of a Hal Hartley movie - Dusty Springfield our one and only great soul singer (sorry Lulu ya just don't cut it ya wee Scots...)and I been in love with Ronnie Spector half my life even though she's declined into a scary looking witch and Pump it Up was, is, always will be awesome - one question who are Heavenly?
