Hip-hop heavyweights, golden grunge gods, punk and funk provocateurs . . . suffice it to say your favorite artists have a little something in common with our favorite group. Speaking about having something in common, the Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction have shared more than a similar sound — they've actually shared members; "Been Caught Stealing," from 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual, captures Jane's at their funk-fortified finest. In some ways, the Peppers' brothers-from-another-mother, Faith No More, make "Epic" live up to its title, cranking up the volume while dropping that bottom end as low as it'll go. And perhaps no other outfit knows how to crank up the volume while dropping that bottom end like L.A.'s own funk-metal supergroup Infectious Grooves, whose "Turtle Wax (Funkaholics Anonymous)" is three-and-a-half minutes of skull-rattling bliss.
