You know and love the Chili Peppers' versions, but you simply haven't heard these songs until you've heard them as the Chili Peppers themselves first did. Guitar god Jimi Hendrix supercharges his blues in a stack-searing cluster bomb of fuzz and fire courtesy of Electric Ladyland's "Crosstown Traffic." Stevie Wonder digs into a loping funk groove, wah-wah-ing his way to soul salvation in "Higher Ground," a chart-topping masterpiece that was cut in a single three-hour burst of almost otherworldly inspiration. And perhaps the least-expected Pepper muse of all time, Elton John, brings a cinematic sweep to the singer-songwriter sound in the mini-symphony of "Tiny Dancer."
