Comment:
When they're not filling arenas or making history as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the group's members are bringing their magic to every corner of the musical universe. Down in Baja at the Cabo Wabo Cantina, a loose-knit jam turned into the supergroup Chickenfoot, taking to the Billboard charts with the likes of "Oh Yeah" — a track underpinned by a skin-slammin' Chad Smith backbeat. In-again, out-again Peppers guitarist John Frusciante lays bare the vulnerability and melodicism that made "Under the Bridge" a breakthrough in the rueful reflection of "The Past Recedes." And Flea, arguably the greatest bassist of his generation, is literally all over the map, booming and slashing his way through a heavy bottom end on the Weirdos' pioneering L.A. punk cut "Terrain," Algerian singer Rimitti's underground Rai masterpiece "Sidi Mansour," and Alanis Morissette's GRAMMY®-winning "You Oughta Know." From Dr. John to Young MC to Ronnie Wood, a staggering variety of artists have added some spice to their music by mixing in a Pepper or two.
