Comment:

And so I finally finish my second Alpha-Zed mixes, using all of the artists in my collection in alphabetical order. Gee, I own a lot... and still I continue seeking out as many new bands as possible.

If i were to do the same thing (all artists in my collection, 1 song per artist, approx 20 songs per CD) it would take about 100 CD's. You think you own a lot? ;o)

while i'm not so sure about some of these picks (eg verve pipe!) some of these are great, eg wilco, tbs and zumpano. as you said, you're young yet. and i don't think i owned many cds until i was in my late 20s.

Yeah, believe me, I was shuddering more than anyone else at some of the stuff in my collection.

No beatles or smiths? Left off! too obvious? My two favorite bands! But still many choices made with quiet perfection

Your entire A-Z series here is incredible. I see a ton of great choices for bands I know, and a ton of stuff I've never heard but would no doubt dig.
